  • Screening for Obstructive Sleep Apnea

How Do You Screen for Obstructive Sleep Apnea?

Our office screens the general population for obstructive sleep apnea with a clinical dental exam, medical history review, and At-Home Oximetry testing.

YOU DO NOT NEED A MEDICAL REFERRAL TO BE SCREENED FOR OBSTRUCTIVE APNEA.

YOU DO NEED A MEDICAL DIAGNOSIS AND WRITTEN Rx FOR AN ORAL DEVICE TO TREAT SLEEP APNEA OR PRIMARY SNORING.

Our office will review your medical history, perform a complete dental sleep screening exam, discuss subjective symptoms of sleep related issues, and provide you with a take home oximetry unit to measure any drops in oxygen saturation or cardiac events over a two night trial. The oximetry test is read by a Board Certified Sleep Physician, MD.

An oximetry unit is simply a finger cuff attached to a recording unit that is worn on the wrist.  Our office typically prefers a two night trial which is all done at in the comfort of your home.

There is typically no fee associated with oximetry if you have any medical insurance provider.  For cash patients the oximetry fee is $22/night.

A copy of a valid ID, current address, and refundable deposit is required to take an oximerty unit home.

Contact our office today if you have questions or would like to schedule a screening.
